A Ride Through History

Experience a battlefield ride like never before!

Join us July 19, 2026 at 9am on the Cedar Mountain battlefield near Culpeper Virginia. Lunch served afterwards.

You will experience the battle that started at 4:45pm on the hot, dusty afternoon of August 9, 1862. Expert narration will be provided by locals who have carefully studied one of the Civil War’s most consequential battles. Relive the great struggle that ended in a victory for Stonewall Jackson’s army, elongating the war by almost 3 years.

During the ride, you will visit the sites where:

- General Winder, one of Jackson’s favorite generals, was felled by a

cannonball to the chest,

- Mrs. Crittenden and her five daughters, caught in the crossfire of the

two raging armies, fled to safety escorted by Captain William Oates of

the 15 th Alabama, a future governor of Alabama, and

- Major Richard Andrews was struck and disemboweled by a

cannonball but miraculously recovered from an injury that previously

was 100% fatal.

You will ride down:

- the very road that Stonewall Jackson furiously rode his horse, Little

Sorrel, up and down, waving his sword, to rally his men who were in

full retreat,

You will cross:

- the field where the 1st Pennsylvania Calvary charged to their death (a

site visited by President Theodore Roosevelt, a famous cavalryman

himself),

You will ride over:

- original gun emplacements of Cedar Mountain where Jackson placed

16 cannons the night before which decisively changed the tide of

battle,

and you will descend:

- the slopes of Cedar Mountain where the Confederates under General

Ewell led the charge that routed the Federal troops and ended the

battle.

And so much more…………..
